Recently, YouTube introduced YouTube Handles for creators and users across the platform. The big boon here is that you don’t need to have 100 subscribers for you to access this tool. Not only that, but this new update will help you create your own unique YouTube presence as well as reach new audiences.

  • WHAT ARE YOUTUBE HANDLES?

YouTube Handles allow you to have a distinct identity on YouTube. While there could be a hundred other channels with the same name as yours, YouTube Handles allows you to have a unique name that will be exclusively yours. Similar to Instagram and Twitter, no one else can use the same handle again.

Your handle name will appear on your channel homepage, and your channel URL, in search results, in comments, in community tab posts, and in descriptions, as well as on YouTube shorts.

  • WHY SHOULD YOU USE YOUTUBE HANDLES?

Overall, this tool helps you promote your channel to more viewers and potential subscribers by using a variety of strategies.

  • Create your own unique identity

With YouTube Handles, you can have your own unique identity. Viewers can now tell you apart from other YouTuber creators.

  • Increase your visibility

It also increases your visibility as viewers can visit your channel by clicking on your handle mentioned in comments, descriptions, and so on. You can now easily promote your channel on various social media platforms, blogs, and websites using Handles.

  • Reach new audiences

It can help you reach out to more views and potential subscribers. Browsing viewers can land on your channel by searching for your handles in the YouTube search results or tapping on your handle mentioned in a comment, community post, or video description. With Handle URLs, you can now direct people to your content even if they aren’t on YouTube.

  • Connect with your audience

By tagging you in the comment section, your audience can actively engage with you. You can connect with your audience by interacting with them in the comment section.

  • Connect with fellow creators

You can connect with other creators by mentioning them in the description of your collab video, as well as in their comment section and community posts.

  • HERE’S HOW YOU CAN GET YOUR YOUTUBE HANDLE:

The good news is that you don’t need to have a subscriber count requirement. All Youtube channels will have their own unique handle.

To get your Handle, visit: https://www.youtube.com/handle

If your channel already has a custom URL, YouTube will automatically convert this URL to your handle. If you don’t have a personalized URL or if you want to change your handle, you can choose the handle name you want.

In certain cases, your preferred handle may not be available. This can happen if you do not follow community guidelines or it may have been taken by someone else.

When you choose your handle, YouTube will create a matching URL (eg-youtube.com@yourhandlle). With this URL, you can easily direct people to their content when they’re not on YouTube.
