As a musician, your music videos might already bring in plenty of views. Here’s how you can use your thriving YouTube presence to sell tickets to your upcoming concert.
Concert tickets on YouTube
This is a new feature on YouTube that is automatically enabled for eligible music channels. If you have an upcoming concert in a particular location, YouTube will show event details such as date, location and ticket links to viewers who are close to that location. The feature is currently limited to viewers in the USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this feature, you must have an official artist channel, with the channel audience not set as ‘made for kids’. You also need a music attraction ID with one of the supported ticket vendors (AXS, EventBrite, SeeTickets, TicketMaster).
As the feature is automatically enabled, you can opt out of it, if needed, by going to YouTube Studio > Concerts. Here, you can toggle the button for ‘sell tickets through YouTube’.
Ticketing process
YouTube fetches the tickets for your concert from the ticketer’s website, based on your music attraction ID, viewer’s location and concert dates. The ticketing process is completely handled by the ticketer, with YouTube just providing a link to the event page. YouTube is not responsible for any aspect of the ticket sales such as refunds, cancellations, etc.
Selling concert tickets is now a lot easier, with YouTube ticketing. With targeted marketing, tickets are shown to people who are not only interested in your music but also happen to be in the general area where your concert will take place.
