YouTube Shorts is only a little over a year old but it has already seen a huge number of audience and creators using it.

Given how young YouTube Shorts is, YouTube is still introducing new and handy features. Let us discuss the latest updates introduced by YouTube for Shorts.

  • Full screen

Shorts

Inspired by TikTok and Instagram Reels, users can now go to the Shorts feed and watch them in full screen. This is different from the traditional display of YouTube videos.

Additionally, YouTube also confirmed that they are expanding a global test that defaults the YouTube mobile app to open directly in Shorts if the user had previously watched Shorts videos before exiting.

This has been tested among iOs users as of now and they are also planning on experimenting this on Android as well.

  • Reusing details of previous uploads and mobile analytics

Another extremely useful update introduced by YouTube is reusing details of previous uploads for the new ones.

On YouTube Studio, while uploading the videos, in the detail section there will be an option for reusing various details like video title, video description, language settings, shorts sampling permissions and category selections.

This can save creators a lot of time, especially creators who post content often and have to fill in these details again and again. Moreover, you should always double check the details before posting the video.

In addition to this, YouTube also developed more analytics on the YouTube Studio mobile app. These analytics were only available on the desktop earlier.

Creators can now check their performance in the last 28 days and weekly and monthly performance stats. These performance indicators will help them efficiently strategise the posting of their content.

Essentially, the idea is to make these stats more easily accessible.

Albeit these updates are not very groundbreaking, they will surely attract more creators and lay a foundation for even more advanced updates.
