Plenty of coronavirus-related videos are being removed and demonized on YouTube. This is largely because creators are not following YouTube’s channel monetization policies. If you want to publish coronavirus-related videos, make sure you comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, Copyright, Google AdSense program policies and Advertiser-friendly content guidelines. YouTube videos that violate these policies will be deleted, receive limited ads or no ads at all and in rare cases, YouTube can temporarily disable monetization on your channel.
Here are some guidelines for uploading coronavirus-related content:
1. Don’t publish medical misinformation
Be careful with your wording. Avoid making false claims about health matters that encourage non-medical tests for coronavirus and promote unapproved remedies such as “Secret Recipes To Cure Coronavirus” or “Coronavirus Is Spread Through 5G Technology. When you’re mentioning statistics, safety precautions and other hard facts, make sure you back them up with credible sources like the World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and National Health Service.
2. Don’t leverage the pandemic for your own self-gain
The coronavirus pandemic is a sensitive subject. Many people are affected as it’s an ongoing global crisis. It’s best to create coronavirus-related content that genuinely aims to help people, rather than leveraging the pandemic to sell or promote your own products and services.
3. Don’t post coronavirus-related pranks or challenges that promote dangerous activities which could spread the virus
Avoid videos that could cause mass panic and spark negative controversies. Like the “Licking Toilet Seat Challenge”, pretending to pass out in public, pretending to cough and sneeze on bystanders, falsely telling people that you have coronavirus to capture their reaction, dressing up in hazmat suits to inspect others and scaring others into thinking you are infected.

4. Don’t accuse individuals/entities/organizations for the origin or spread of coronavirus
There are many misconceptions and theories about the origin of coronavirus that contradict scientific consensus. You do not want to spread hate directed towards these accused entities such as the governments created the virus as a bioweapon, the pandemic is a hoax or cover-up, the virus originated from certain ethnic groups.
5. Don’t post graphic/violent content
People are especially vulnerable during the pandemic. You don’t want to shock or scare people and display disturbing content that could cause mental trauma. Avoid posting distressing footage of people visibly sick in medical care facilities, or people being forced into isolation.
These are the main types of coronavirus-related content that are being demonetised and you must avoid posting on YouTube. Just be careful with your content thumbnails, title, descriptions and tags and make sure they adhere to YouTube’s policies. At the end of the day, remember that your main intentions to create coronavirus-related videos are positive and focus on using your voice to spread global awareness about the pandemic.
